Bernie has been forced to take her vacation days. This is truly what she does NOT want to do. Her mother decides that she needs an adventure. So, she books Bernie on a hiking trip in Alaska. She thinks Bernie needs to start acting more like Great-Aunt Bernice. Bernie is named after her so she needs to be adventurous like her namesake.

The trip does not start off as planned. When Bernie arrives, she realizes she will have to share a tent with a cute guy named Matthew. Matthew is a struggling screen writer and he is on this trip to clear his head. He has no intentions of being stuck with someone who knows nothing about camping or hiking.

As you can guess, these two clash on a huge scale. I adore Bernie. She is a character after my own heart. She is an introvert, she loves smutty novels and she is the least adventurous person on this trip. But she has the best attitude. She basically rolls with whatever life throws at her. Then there is Matthew. He really has a great heart and it comes out as the novel moves along.

Give me a book set in Alaska and I am hooked. Add these great characters and cute little quips and you have a wonderful tale.

Is the Mona Lisa a fake? Vincent Peruggia stole the painting in 1911. Was it ever properly replaced? Luke Perrone is determined to find out exactly what has happened. His research has triggered a warning at Interpol. Luke has managed to integrate himself into the world of art forgery and theft.

The history that runs throughout this novel is superb! It is very well researched and put together. The only reason for the 4 stars…and this is only my opinion…I did not feel as connected to the characters as I wanted to be. But, the art history and the way the author portrayed Florence and Paris, just took my breath away!

Dahlia has returned to her family home for her father’s funeral. She has not been home in quite a long time. It is hard for her to face this place without her twin brother, Andy. She has been searching for Andy since he left at the age of 16.

Dahlia is obsessed with her missing brother. She knows he is alive somewhere and he will come find her. But, when they find his body buried in her father’s plot, she now has a new obsession. She must find out who killed Andy and why.

Talk about a unique family. I always wonder about authors and their mindset when they create situations like this. This is a family where the mother named all her kids after some kind of murder or murderer. The mother actually acted out a lot of these murders for her children for their “homeschool” lessons. Just plain twisted!

I enjoyed this creepy setting and this really weird family. The story did slow down a bit in places. But the characters and the setting really keep the reader moving along! Oh…and don’t forget the mystery…you do not want to miss this one!

Melanie is a stay at home mom. She takes care of her family and her ailing mother-in-law. She has a wonderful husband and a pretty good life. But, when she meets a handsome romance writer, it sends her on a crash course.

When Mel meets Luke the reader just knows what is about to happen next. Yes! They hit it off and it leads to an affair. Then Melanie finds his dead body…she can’t tell anyone. It will blow up her perfect life…or will it?!?!

I enjoyed the intricacies to this novel. It does keep you guessing. The story did slow down a bit in the middle. But that is just a minor situation. Because, believe me…you want to know who did what to whom!

Amy is approached by a strange man, Leo, during her lunch break. He is determined she is the long lost relative to Katherine Parr, the last wife of Henry VIII. He refuses to take no for an answer. He continues to find Amy wherever she is. It is completely unnerving. Then strange things start to happen and she and Leo have to team up to find out exactly what is going on.

I loved Leo and Amy, especially Amy. She is snarky and plays her part well! I also enjoyed the mystery and the intrigue throughout this tale. Heck, half the time you have no idea who the main characters really are. Is he really a professor? Is she really a banker? WHAT?!? The answer is…read this book and find out!

I fluctuated between 4 and 5 stars. Basically because there are several places which it just seems a bit far fetched. But, I decided on 5 stars because I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. It’s not perfect but it is captivating, especially with all the different cities and countries which the author travels the reader to!
